About Us
Biography - Carol grew up in rural Hertfordshire and began working on farms at 14, initially a large dairy unit and then a 2000 acre mixed arable, beef and dairy unit, where she was stockman.
Carol studied Agriculture at Shuttleworth College, gaining a distinction at HND level. While at college her interest in deer took her to work on a deer farm near Bristol during her sandwich year and she went on to do an ANCA in Deer Management at Sparsholt College, where she was top student.
After qualifying she worked for 18 months on a large deer farm in Yorkshire, before moving to Scotland as Scientific Officer on the deer farm at the Macaulay Institute's Glensaugh Research Station, near Fettercairn. Carol spent 7 years working for the Macaulay Institute, on research projects including the welfare aspects of in-wintered deer calves and the transportation of deer. During this time Carol studied for a degree through the Open University, gaining a First Class BSc Honours in subjects including Ecology, Evolution and Living Processes.
In 1999 Carol started work with Angus FWAG as their administrator before becoming the Farm Conservation Adviser in 2002. Since then Carol has completed a large number of successful agri-environment schemes for clients. Through these schemes there has been an immense amount of new habitat creation in Angus, including new hedges planted and new areas of species-rich grassland and wetland created very successfully. Her work as Adviser has also involved her in a variety of successful projects (more details can be seen on the Projects page).
